Joan Isabel Kurtiss Age:  10; born October 22, 1924; died May 26, 1935 Height:  4' 5" Weight:  87 lbs Hair:  Blonde Eyes:  Blue Ethnicity:  Caucasian Joanie Kurtiss was always an enigma to her parents.  Shunning the pretty dresses and dolls her mother brought home for her, Joanie preferred to slip into one of her dad's old work shirts and go play ball with the guys.  The few people still alive to recall describe Joanie as a little firebrand, always ready with a quip and a smirk.  Joanie's untimely death is believed to have occurred somewhere in the condemned Hathorn Manor.  Two of the searchers collapsed from heart attack before they even entered the house.  Discouraged and more terrified than they wanted to admit, the sheriff's department closed the case without ever setting another foot on the Manor grounds.  Many Dayton residents attended her funeral to pay their respects to an empty coffin.
