![]() | Joseph "Jove" Vladmir Vasquez Captain of the soccer team, life of the party, and that smoldering Latin sex appeal. To an outside observer, Jove Vasquez seems like the ideal date for any lady lucky enough to catch his attention. But the J-Man is more than just a pretty face, and like anyone else, brings his share of baggage to the table when dealing with girls. Jove's eye for cookie-cutter beautiful women is constantly at odds with his need for intellectual stimulation and a certain degree of healthy conflict in a relationship. Most of his exes report a whirlwind first week followed by an abrupt loss of interest from him. Since his only point of comparison comes from his more reserved friend Mike, Jove has no way of measuring the success of his romances. He sees that he has dated many women and considers this to be the equivalent of a strong track record. He seems to have been entirely unaware of his less-than-flattering reputation before meeting Rikki Connolly. Floored by his first encounter with Tennessee transfer, Rikki Connolly, Jove has had his interest peaked by this bizarre girl who seems immune to his charm. |
![]() | Rachel "Rikki" Jane Connolly After moving with her family to Kestrel City from rural Tennessee, Rikki Connolly quickly became a favorite among both teachers and coaches at her new school. Although well liked among her new group of friends in the school color guard, Rikki has trouble making friends with boys. Her reaction to the opposite sex tends to range from comic fury to outright violence. This anti-dude stance, along with her general tomboyish-ness has led many to suggest that she gives off a "lezzie vibe." Despite utter inexperience, Rikki is, to the best of her understanding, a hetero lady, but has yet to open up about the source of her distrust of men. |
![]() | Jake the Corgle Rikki's beagle-corgi mix came with her from her country home. He was the only one of her beloved dogs small enough to make the transition into the new, more cramped city lifestyle. Jake lives with the Connollys along with three cats and a ferret. Jake enjoys the first half of the game of fetch and both halves of the game of ha-ha-look-now- I-have-the-ball. |
![]() | Paula Schneider Paula is Rikki's vanilla-mild best friend. While considerably naïve and a hopeless romantic, Paula isn't quite as conservative as she acts. One of her favorite passtimes is acting exaggeratedly scandalized over Rikki's often over-the-top behavior. |
![]() | Michael Pryce Mike is Jove's best friend. Though often absent from Jove's melodramatic misadventures, Mike's long history with the Jovester gives him a unique insight into our hero, something that neither Rikki nor Jove himself has access to. Introverted, but keenly observant, Mike's strange eyes can cut into the core of even the strangest situation. Speaking of which, have his eyes always been yellow? He must be wearing colored contacts now, right? |
![]() | Karen Moore Karen is another of Jove's childhood friends. The most mature of the three, Karen's rationality has fished Jove and Mike out of many a jam. Now, as they drift apart in this next phase of their lives, Karen looks back on her time with Mike and Jove with more embarrassment than nostalgia. She would never admit that, just as much as Mike and Jove benefited from her cool-headedness and reasonability, her life was richer for having two goofballs to look after. |
![]() | Coach Bill Clovis Bill Clovis is the coach of the Kestrel High soccer team, the Warhawks. Stout and short legged, Clovis was never a force to be reckoned with as a player, but three years in Italy, reporting on the pro-football circuit for a newspaper have given him both a passion for the game and a strong grasp of its second-by-second strategy. Although his love of sports movies have often driven him to make long-winded pre-game speeches, his eye for talented youngsters and his experience with his beloved sport have made Kestrel City the team to beat in the district. |
![]() | Coach Eloise Mason Eloise Mason loved classical ballet from the moment she could walk. Unable to find work for a six-foot-two ballerina, Mason returned to her home town in Kestrel and started to work with the KCHS marching band to develop a color guard. The flag team is Mason's baby, her last way to connect to her love of dance. She knows what a long shot her beleaguered team is, but is ready to go down in a blaze of glory if it comes to that. |
